Opaque, snow-white curved blades of Baryte form an oblique spherical rosette measuring approximately 4.0 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm. This sits at the apex of a bed of stubby milky-white Quartz crystals which adopt a pale sky-blue hue, especially in artificial light. From the Brixlegg-Schwaz area within the Inn Valley of North Tyrol, Austria, the Quartz crystals are between 1 to 4 mm wide and their bluish tinge contrasts nicely against the pure white Quartz matrix. This habit of Baryte is sometimes referred to as onion or onion dome Baryte. A showy Austrian Baryte with Quartz.
