Two translucent, glassy powder blue tabular crystals of translucent Baryte measuring approximately 6.0 x 4.0 x 1.0 and 5.0 x 3.5 x 0.9 cm sit amongst a group of light tan plates of Dolomite. From the iron mines around the town of Frizington in West Cumbria (formerly Cumberland), this specimen is archetypal of the classic blue Baryte this area is world famous for. The Baryte crystals have a very high lustre and contrast nicely with the opaque, slight pearlescent Dolomite.
