The quarry at Podrecany in Lucenec County, Slovakia produced a good variety of mineral species but is probably most famous for its very fine Aragonites. The principal, double terminated crystal measures 13.2 cm long and at the end of one side some of the limonitic matrix remains attached. The main Aragonite crystal tapers towards both ends, being at its thickest in the middle at about 2.0 x 1.7 cm in cross section. The thicker, central, section is translucent off-milky-white grading to more transparent colourless Aragonite at the terminations. A fine example of Aragonite from Podrecany.
