A rare and highly sought miniature specimen of Andrewsite from Phoenix United mine at Minions, close to Linkinhorne in Cornwall. Although Andrewsite was discredited as a true species in 1990, it remains one of those “must have” Cornish classics. It is now known to be a mixture of Hentschelite and Rockbridgeite with minor Chalcosiderite. The specimen displays several spherulites of light green grey Andrewsite measuring to 2 mm diameter. The interiors of the spherulites show fibrous concentric banding associated with well-developed crystals of Chalcosiderite. The Andrewsite and Chalcosiderite have formed on brown-black Goethite and white Quartz. A classic and rare specimen of Andrewsite from Wheal Phoenix where it was first discovered. It is accompanied by three individual collector’s labels and a Nick Carruth stock label.
