A rare and fascinating small cabinet specimen of Andradite Garnet displaying lustrous intergrown crystals of two generations together with Diopside and Quartz crystals. This specimen is from the Banat Mountains in Romania and is a fine example of pulsed, multi-sage mineralisation. First generation Andradite forms dark burnt marmalade composite crystals averaging 8 mm diameter over which has grown the mid-leaf green Diopside. The second phase of Andradite has produced much smaller, part-gemmy apricot to barley sugar coloured crystals which form a drusy coating over the Diopside and first generation Andradite. The Diopside forms tabular bladed crystals to 1.2 cm with later gemmy, colourless crystals of Quartz.
