Friday Update – Good Friday's Finest
Thomas CotterellShare
HAPPY Good Friday! Although the restructuring of our updates allows more flexibility in the range of prices presented, this particular update is tailored to the more expensive end of collecting as ‘good’, or ‘great’ specimens.
Often, these translate as stunningly beautiful or exceptionally well crystallized species and there are plenty of these on show today.
To tempt you, the Native Gold on Quartz matrix from Brusson mine in Aosta Valley, northern Italy is an absolute beauty and the story of this remarkable rediscovery is portrayed by Michael Wachtler in his 2017 book, Heart of Gold.
When it comes to gem minerals we are very much in awe of the pegmatites of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. From there, we present a colossal 27 cm tall gemmy blue Elbaite tourmaline crystal from Coronel Murta; an extremely unusual Beryl crystal combination of Morganite encased in Aquamarine; and a classic blue Topaz crystal from Virgem da Lapa.
Of course there are so many other stunning specimens to study, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy the view.
Have a great Easter! We will be back on Tuesday on the trail of Calcite.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are situated at both our US and UK showrooms.
