Zincolivenite is one of the species from Tsumeb which combines rarity with exceptional beauty that is visible in handspecimen. Once regarded as a variety of either zinc-rich Olivenite or copper-rich Adamite it is now (since 2006) classified in its own right, with Tsumeb mine being the undisputed king of occurrences for the finest crystals both in terms of size and dramatic colour. This exceptionally well crystallized large miniature to small display Zincolivenite specimen is from the Weyand collection held in Tsumeb for generations, and features the classic vivid green glossy wedge-shaped crystals for which Tsumeb mine is renowned. The whole upper display surface is Zincolivenite, as well-formed crystals to 8 mm in length, although most are in the 3 to 5 mm size range. Much of the matrix is Zincolivenite too, but massive, with crystal-lined cavities and with patches of powdery yellow Tsumcorite. The Zincolivenite crystals are all really well formed and in excellent condition. An extremely rich example of this classic species from Tsumeb and in a rarely seen size and quality.
