Zincolivenite is a species intermediate between Olivenite and Adamite in chemistry. For many years it was regarded as a variety of either Olivenite or Adamite but is now classified in its own right. Tsumeb mine is not the Type Locality but is the undisputed king of occurrences with the finest crystals both in terms of size and dramatic colour. These crystals were known about for generations but given various names until the more permanent naming of Zincolivenite was introduced in 2006. This superb miniature Zincolivenite specimen is from the Weyand collection held in Tsumeb for generations, and features the classic vivid green wedge-shaped crystals for which Tsumeb mine is renowned. Nearly the whole specimen is Zincolivenite, giving it a dense feel, and showing paler massive Zincolivenite with bright glassy green sharply formed crystals to 3 mm in length lining cavities. A very rich example of this classic species from Tsumeb.
