Woodhouseite is a rare calcium-aluminium phosphate whose type locality is the Champion mine at White Mountain Peak in Mono County, California, USA, from where this excellent miniature originates. Champion mine worked an Andalusite deposit and operated from 1922 until closing sometime during the 1930s when all the ore had been extracted. The top surface of the flat platy matrix is totally encrusted with well-developed translucent Woodhouseite crystals averaging between 2 and 4 mm across and ranging in colour from colourless to cream and light tan. A fine example of this rare species with J & L Orchids and Herb Obodda labels.
