For their overall quality in terms of crystal shape, colour, lustre and general aesthethics, there is simply no beating the Veszelyite found at Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine, Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnan, China. Sitting upon a layer of greyish microbotryoidal Hemimorphite the deep electric-blue Veszelyite crystals stand out magnificently on this small cabinet specimen. Individually, the thin, translucent, chisel-shaped bladed crystals reach 3 mm in length and are predominantly grouped in twisted fan-like and bow-tie sprays. Their lustre is exceptional - a 'wet' looking resinous type - which is amongst the very best I have seen for this species. There is very minor damage to the edge crystals along the side that has been freshly trimmed, but the main display surface is liberally carpeted in extremely high quality crystals. Very few minerals have this intensity of colour and lustre, making this Veszelyite an extremely fine display of what is a real rarity.
