At 7.4 cm tall, this extremely fine single crystal of Vanadian Dravite is one of the best examples of this exceptional rare and colourful variety of Dravite - a species of tourmaline better known for brown crystals. It is from the 2015/2016 find at Nadonjukin, a small village in the northeast of Tanzania. Originally marketed as Chrome Dravite, it was not until relatively recently that the chromophore responsible for the exceptional bottle-green colour was identified to be vanadium. This substantial prismatic crystal displays an extremely well-developed three-faced pyramidal termination, with a rich gemmy bottle-green to emerald-green colour over a yellow core of Dravite. With good backlighting the intensity of colour is magnificent.
