Although not a scientific or technical term, this cabinet specimen of multiple Titanite blades attached to Epidote crystals is most accurately described as one total killer! It is from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan, admittedly a very large area, but with no more detailed locality information. The largest Titanite crystal measures an impressive 7.5 x 5.0 x 1.5 cm. Five major crystals, joined face-to-face in parallel development, make up the specimen, with smaller crystals attached and a 4.5 cm long bundle of dark bottle green Epidote crystals pierce the lowermost Titanite prisms. The Titanite is translucent to opaque towards the centre of the crystals and displays a patchwork of mottled greens in shades of siskin, asparagus, avocado, nickel and sage. It’s a magnificent example of Titanite from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a thing of beauty.
