Cavnic mine in Romania is well-known for razor sharp Tetrahedrite crystals. In modern mineralogical terminology Tetrahedrite is no longer an individual species, but a subgroup with many members. There are currently no specific records of which species within this subgroup the Cavnic mine specimens belong. This large miniature specimen is a Cavnic classic displaying dark grey metallic tetrahedral crystals to 1.3 cm on edge sat on a bright white Calcite-rich matrix. The Tetrahedrite crystals are really well-formed with some twinning also evident.
