Tenorite, or copper oxide, is a relatively widespread mineral species, but distinct crystals are exceptionally rare with the exception of within volcanoes. This thumbnail specimen is one such exception, featuring superb rosetted aggregates of thin, glossy, black, platy microcrystals. There is a little bruising to some of the crystals, but also many in superb condition. It comes from the famous Northern Breakthrough at Tolbachik Volcanic field with its old collectors label noting "Fumarole Uzkaya". Ex Dr. Hans-Jurgen Wilke (1925-2014) Collection, acquired by him in April 1994, and ex Dr Eduard Lopatka. A fine crystallized Tenorite.
