Several compact clusters of perfectly formed, sub-millimetre Stephanite and Proustite crystals are scattered amongst the hillocky surface of a spongy-textured matrix of matt grey Native Arsenic, covering a thin plate of micro-vuggy Quartz. Stephanite is a silver sulphosalt and Proustite, a silver sulpharsenide. This small cabinet specimen is from the historic mining district around Freiberg in Saxony, Germany. The crystals are tiny and to examine individual crystals in detail requires a low power microscope. A good representation of these species despite in micro-crystal habit. This miniature comes with the previous collector’s label.
