An unusual and rather fascinating specimen of the tin sulphide Stannite is intergrown with thick acicular crystals of bright silver Jamesonite. From the San Jos' Mine in Cercado Province, Bolivia, the blocky steely-grey Stannite crystals form two roughly spherical clusters that are linked by acicular rods of Jamesonite to form an asymmetric dumbbell-shaped specimen. The Jamesonite penetrates the Stannite and richly coats its surface to form a one-of-a-kind, highly pleasing specimen.
