When it comes to large British Sphalerite crystals and larger crystallized Sphalerite specimens the New Glencrieff mine at Wanlockhead in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland is the most famous locality. This fine large, dome-like aggregate, of large, glossy, resinous black Sphalerite crystals with partial overgrowth of scattered small colourless bipyramidal Quartz crystals and more widespread tiny prismatic Calcite crystals preferentially on one side of the Sphalerite crystals is iconically New Glencrieff mine. There are some very slight contact marks on the Sphalerite, but these are minimal and do not detract from the quality of this fine classic Scottish specimen. Ex Roger Harker Collection (died 1980) with his characteristic handwritten label affixed to the back.
