Small cabinet in size, the aesthetics of this piece are incredible. We all know how great the Spessartine crystals are from Wushan Spessartine mine in Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China - up there as some of the finest examples of Spessartine garnet ever seen. Not necessarily the largest of crystals (in this case up to 4 mm in diameter), it is the perfection in their colour, glassiness, and crystal form, particularly when they display those magnificent growth lines with stepped faces. This beautiful piece is complimented by the addition of several really well-formed terminated prismatic Smoky Quartz crystals (to 2.6 cm in length), almost black in colour, contrasting wonderfully with the underlying cream, to beige coloured blocky Microcline crystals. The bright orange rounded Spessartine crystals are liberally scattered upon the surface of both the Microcline and the Smoky Quartz to produce a colourful, but also 3-dimensional well-crystallized specimen.
