A bright creamy-white altered (possibly Kaolinized) Feldspar matrix is studded with prominent deep orange coloured Spessartine crystals to 7 mm in diameter. The quality of these Spessartine crystals, in terms of colour, brightness, size and crystal shape really highlights why the Wushan Spessartine mine at Tongbei in Fujian Province, China is considered one of the world's best sources of superb crystallized Spessartine. To highlight further their quality, a few of the crystals are twinned in exceptional forms and under magnification the parallel growth lines across the crystal faces are exquisite. These crystals continue around the top and side of the sample. There are cracks visible within the Feldspar matrix but these do not appear to be structural weaknesses, rather where the Feldspar has altered, possibly to Kaolinite. On the back unusual Goethite pseudomorphs after Pyrite cubes to 1.5 cm on edge adds interest.
