A striking example of Faden Smoky Quartz from the spectacular Göschenen Valley in Uri canton, Switzerland. Individual crystals have developed to form a stalactite of outwardly facing Quartz crystals with the point of attachment clearly visible at one end. All crystals are reasonably transparent with a pale smokiness, best described perhaps as a greyish pale sherry brown. The white Faden line can be seen running through almost the entire length from where the group has grown outwards and re-healed. All the Smoky Quartz crystals are well developed, and display many crystal habits and sizes. One of the more equant crystals measures 2.0 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm whereas a highly distorted crystal is 2.7 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm. A terrific Faden Smoky Quartz from the Swiss Alps.
