A superb specimen of colourless to milky-white Smithsonite crystals forming rich clusters over a matrix of semi-metallic, mid-grey Coronadite, from the MMM mine at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. Coronadite is a relatively rare lead-manganese oxide and forms a heavy matrix of micro-botryoidal crystalline clusters which group to form foliated parallel ribs. Over these is deposited colourless to pale greyish-cream Smithsonite as spherical clusters to about 1 cm diameter. An excellent example of Smithsonite on Coronadite from the famous MMM mine; an open cut at South mine, Broken Hill.
