This cabinet-sized orange to cream coloured Smithsonite from the world-famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia presents a really unusual and fascinating form. Its very large rhombic crystals reach 1.8 cm on edge, but it is their rounded edges which really catches ones attention. Combined with its lovely resinous lustre it gives the appearance of having been drizzled over with wax. The whole specimen is Smithsonite, as an elongated crystal aggregate with its top surface in superb condition for display. Colour-zoning on some of the crystals makes a wonderfully characterful addition, further enhancing its charm.
