A classic, dome-like aggregate of botryoidal pale blue-green, or duck egg blue Smithsonite from the famous finds at San Antonio mine, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico. Its surfaces present a beautiful satin-like silky lustre with a few scattered colourless bladed Hemimorphite crystals in evidence too. At smaller cabinet size this is a good size for display and viewing and has the very desirable colour for this locality. Although some great Smithsonite specimens were recovered from San Antonio mine during the 1950s, it was a short-lived operation during the late 1990s and earliest years of the 2000s that produced the most significant specimens. Although not specifically documented as from which era of collecting this came from, the more recent one seems most likely. Ex Cliff Vermont Collection.
