Of all the world-wide localities where Smithsonite occurs, this gorgeous miniature shouts Lavrion! I think most collectors would agree that specimens from this classic region of Greece just have that certain je ne sais quoi. Translucent, light creamy-grey Smithsonite forms botryoidal mounds to 3 cm across on a typical, gossany limonitic matrix. What makes this a stand-out specimen is the Smithsonite's beguiling bright lustre of gleaming brushed silk. An excellent Lavrion Smithsonite.
