The world famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia has produced many of the world's 'best-of' species, and Smithsonite is certainly one for which Tsumeb is renowned for remarkably large crystals and large crystallized specimens in a staggering range of colours, reflecting the diversity of trace elements available in the oxidized ore deposits. This lovely larger miniature specimen from Tsumeb displays exceptionally sharp rhombic crystals of Smithsonite, but not only that, they present a really rich orange colour and classic resinous lustre. As Smithsonites go, the quality of these crystals is extremely fine. Ex Kessler Collection.
