This miniature crystallized Smithsonite specimen from Tsumeb mine in Namibia is double-sided and so can be displayed one of two ways. The Smithsonite encrusts a freestanding narrow rib of pale pinkish rock as pale cream coloured extremely well-formed rhombic crystals with a superb pearlescent lustre. The individual crystals exceptionally reach 9 mm on edge, or 1.2 cm end to end. One side of the specimen is totally encrusted with intergrown rhombs, whist the other has them spaced out so that individual crystals can be studied. The crystals are all in excellent condition and the specimen has that classic hefty feel generated by the density of Smithsonite. A very fine Tsumeb Smithsonite and nice to see the pure colour rather than the many different brightly coloured varieties of Smithsonites from there.
