Twinned Siderite crystals are an absolute rarity on a world scale, with Mont Saint-Hilaire one of the few places where they are known. Even at Mont Saint-Hilaire they are rare, making this specimen something very special indeed - a masterpiece. At over 10 cm in length this beautifully coloured, zoned twin, is simply stunning. Even standard rhombic Siderite crystals from Mont Saint-Hilaire rarely exceed 5 cm in length, let alone a twin double that in size. What is more, this specimen is well-balanced, attractive, displays well, and has the contrast and association of a coating of white to cream Albite. It is likely that this specimen came out of the quarry during the 1970s or 1980s. A truly remarkable MSH specimen worthy of the finest collection.
