Tsumeb Mine Otjikoto Region Namibia

Although Siderite is a relatively common mineral at Tsumeb, occurring in each of the three oxidation zones, specimens are not that often seen in collections because aesthetic specimens tend to be very rare. A 2.2 cm by 0.5 to 1.0 cm wide patch of well crystallised, gemmy-brownish-yellow Siderite sits on a germanium-rich sulphide matrix with a play of peacock-blue iridescence. A few Siderite crystals measure to 5 mm long with good terminations.
