From the Gelbe Birke mine in Saxony, Germany, four octahedral Scheelite crystals nestle among a bed of tiny acicular milky Quartz crystals coating a roughly square matrix of cryptocrystalline Quartz. The largest Scheelite crystal measures 9 mm between its opposite octahedron apexes and all four crystals fluoresce ghostly pale blue-white under SWUV. The Scheelite, a calcium tungstate, forms translucent milky-colourless crystals with a silky and opalescent lustre.
