Although this crystal of Quartz richly encrusted with tiny Scheelite crystals is within the miniature size range, it somehow appears larger than this and will certainly sit comfortably amongst cabinet specimens. The specimen is from the C'novec/Zinnwald ore field which spans the border between Saxony in Germany and the 'st' Region of the Czech Republic. The single off-matrix Quartz crystal is of Dauphin' type habit, but with two greatly enlarged faces. Its core is morion black yet over some faces a thin pinkish-grey-cream layer masks the dark interior. The Quartz appears to have been double terminated but is now missing most of one termination. However, this broken looking surface is overgrow with excellent octahedral crystals of golden amber Scheelite. Many other faces also have a very rich coating of Scheelite crystals of up to 2 or 3 mm wide while probably averaging 1 mm. A superb specimen.
