This complex and remarkable Sceptre Quartz is from the granite pegmatites close to Dolní Bory in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. Amongst an extensive suite of minerals from this locality, well crystallised Quartz is well known, although collecting here is now forbidden because the site is within a managed area of forest. An exposed, rough opaque milky-white central Quartz core forms the stem of the sceptre. This is partly enveloped with beautifully crystallised transparent to translucent colourless and pale to mid-sherry brown smoky Quartz. The apex of the specimen is composed of a parallel pair of adjacent terminations, whereas the lower skirt surrounding the sceptre prism is formed from a downward pointing ring of eight terminated crystals. A fascinating and delightful smoky Quartz Sceptre from the Czech Republic, accompanied with the previous collector’s folded card label.
