A lovely old-time display specimen of Rhodonite from a classic European occurrence. Bright, pastel pink, triclinic bladed crystals to 8 or 9 mm in length occur with contrasting black Amphibole and white Quartz. The Rhodonite crystals are in great condition and display excellently. The accompanying old Krantz label records the specimen under the old name of Pajsbergite. The mid- to late-19th century Harstigen mine was really nothing more than a trial working in modern terms, producing only a few hundred tons of iron and manganese ores, but for its size was a remarkable repository for rare and unusual minerals. This Rhodonite is a really fine specimen from this small mine and is so distinctive in comparison to the more common Rhodonite specimens seen from Broken Hill or Franklin. It would look beautiful in a display of classic European minerals.
