Madan Ore Field in Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria is well-known for its Rhodochrosite specimens which are usually finely crystallized with a subtle pale pink colour. This small cabinet sized specimen presents an unusual form of Rhodochrosite, as petal-like, rounded, bladed crystals. It is unclear if this is a replacement form after some precursor mineral, or primary Rhodochrosite, but it is certainly distinctive and quite attractive too. In one area these crystals begin to show a rosetted arrangement. Amongst the Rhodochrosite are Galena and Chalcopyrite crystals too, and Quartz forms part of the matrix. A very distinctive Madan Ore Field specimen.
