There is no doubt this is one busy specimen with so much going on, a feast for the eye indeed. Rhodochrosite overgrows Sphalerite, Pyrite and Galena on a 1.5 to 2 cm thick Quartz matrix from the Trepča Orebody Complex in the Mitrovica district of Kosovo. Intergrown spherical clusters of lenticular, light pink Rhodochrosite dominate the display face with associated crystalline and massive Pyrite and minor black Sphalerite. The underside is composed almost entirely of more massive Pyrite and Sphalerite, plus several reasonably good Sphalerite crystals in a small vug. This terrific cabinet specimen comes with a pervious collector’s label.
