The Rhodochrosite found at the 10th Level Silicate Ore Body, Potosí mine, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico is highly variable in form, but can produce stunning crystals such as those displayed on this wonderful large miniature specimen. The crystals are rhombic in form but very unusual, displaying complex stepped, highly modified faces with rounded edges. On top of this they are extremely reflective, translucent to transparent and are a rich pale raspberry pink colour. The black Hisingerite matrix enhances this colour, acting as a fine backdrop to showcase these wonderfully bright and colourful crystals. Individually, the Rhodochrosite crystals reach 1 cm in length and all are in superb condition. A really fine Rhodochrosite, full of character and beauty. In some respects this material has similarities to some of the Peruvian Rhodochrosite, but compares extremely well with its superb glassy lustre.
