This superb cabinet-sized specimen of Rhodochrosite from the Wolf mine, Herdorf, Germany displays the classic, highly distinctive form, for which this mine is renowned. A large cavity measuring to 4 cm x 3 cm in a typical vuggy Goethite matrix is richly lined with rice-grain shaped crystals of translucent, silky-lustre, deep pink Rhodochrosite measuring to an impressive 1.1 cm (relatively large for the location). Another cavity is also to be seen with similar crystals of Rhodochrosite. A terrific specimen from the well-known Wolf mine. A true German, and European classic.
