Discovered in 2019, this distinctive sceptred Quartz from Chiredzi mining district, Masvingo, Zimbabwe is one of a small find which has not furnished anything more since, but this is typical of the artisanal-style of mining operations. Large miniature in size, this double-topped sceptre presents a very clear contrast between its milky-white Quartz base with orange iron staining and its two, parallel, dark purple, doubly-terminated amethystine crystals sat atop. The crowning crystals are quite gemmy with a fine glassy lustre contrasting with the base. The larger of the two crystals, which reaches 3.2 cm tip to tip, is really well-formed but has the very slightest of chips to its upper termination. The second crystal is smaller and not as well-formed, missing part of one side. The specimen is mounted on an acryllic base for display.
