This superb individual, and large, terminated Rock Crystal Quartz from Brazil is something of an enigma. It comes from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) but its locality is difficult to pin down. Recorded as from Serra Geral do Goiás in the state of Goiás this appears to be an escarpment over 300 km northeast of the capital Brasilia and in the furthest northeastern corner of Goiás state. Dominated by a stunning 12 cm tall transparent crystal, this rises from a bed of much smaller terminated Rock Crystal crystals that cling around its base as 'servant' crystals and lower still the base of this aggregate is opaque Milky Quartz. The main crystal is beautiful and its only imperfections are wispy cloud-like white inclusions inside its base and two tiny abrasions on two edges of is upper prism with its termination pristine. A large, impactful Brazilian Rock Crystal Quartz for an instant large crystal display.
