A 6 mm wide aggregate of stacked platy black, to dark grey, Pyrophanite crystals on possible Arfvedsonite or Astrophyllite. Pyrophanite is one of the lesser known species from the remarkably mineralogically diverse Mont Saint-Hilaire region (439 separate species are recorded) and usually only occurs as microcrystals. This is a fine large thumbnail specimen and will make a great addition to a Mont Saint-Hilaire suite.
