This super cabinet-sized specimen displays classic burnt-orange to dark mustard colour, seed-like crystals of Pyromorphite densely aggregated upon coarsely crystallized white bladed Baryte. This is an association well-known from Les Farges mine, the premier Pyromorphite locality in France. This specimen is a really great size and the Pyromorphite crystals reach 7 mm in length allowing their form to be easily seen. The combined weight of the dense Baryte and Pyromorphite gives this specimen a substantial feel. There is some minor abrasion to a few areas of the finer-grained, more delicate acicular Pyromorphite, but this is usual for these larger specimens and does not detract from the overall showy appearance of this fine Pyromorphite specimen. The Pyromorphite crystals coat the Baryte and in a few places this is displayed where more upright bladed Baryte crystals can be seen in cross-section with a Pyromorphite crust. A specimen full of character.
