This distinctive bright, sulphur-yellow form of Pyromorphite is a classic from the Mexico mine at the eastern end of the head of Roughton Gill in the Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England. Thumbnail in size and forming a divergent spray on a small piece of crystallized Quartz veinstone the hexagonal prisms of Pyromorphite are extremely glassy and reach 9 mm in length. One of the crystals has damage to its termination, but the others are really fine. This specimen most likely came from outcrop workings during the 1980s or early 1990s, before a collecting ban was introduced in 2000. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection.
