A crust of crystallised Pyromorphite up to 8 mm thick richly coats two sides of an opaque milky Quartz veinstone matrix from the classic Bunker Hill mine at Kellogg in Shoshone County, Idaho, USA. The Pyromorphite forms parallel bands along the specimen's surface in different colours and sizes of crystals. These range from 7 mm to less than 1 mm and with colour zoned-bands grading through pale apricot, lime-green and light butterscotch overgrown with gemmy transparent lime green hexagonal prisms. Generally, as the Pyromorphite crystals become larger, their morphology tends more towards curved barrel-shaped crystals. A beautiful example.
