The mines at Braubach, near Bad Ems in Germany are well known for having produced some of the world's best specimens of brown Pyromorphite, but the scale of this magnificent crystallized aggregate is staggering. At 11.5 x 10 x 6.8 cm it is no wonder that it weighs in at over 1 kg. Size and weight do not necessarily equate to class, but in this case the whole specimen is richly invested in glossy chocolate-brown acicular groupings of Pyromorphite crystals with a few thin ribs of primary white Baryte cutting through (but actually overgrown by the Pyromorphite). The top surface of the specimen is completely Pyromorphite, with excellent crystal groupings with very little damage rising up from the Pyromorphite mass as freestanding sprays and growing up within its concave surface.
