It is often talked about how Les Farges mine has produced such distinctive, instantly recognizable, specimens of Pyromorphite but this miniature one is actually quite different. Rather than presenting an aggregate of tapering, seed-like orange-brown crystals with distinctive paler yellow hoppered terminations, it has tapering brown crystals with paler brown interiors and slightly clustered terminations, but without the prominent paler colour-zoned tips. A later generation of tiny yellow Pyromorphite crystals are scattered about the bases of some of the large (up to 8 mm) Pyromorphite crystals. A couple of the larger crystals are broken off, revealing their paler internal colour, but texturally it is a fascinating piece, full of intricate detail.
