The Broken Hill mines in New South Wales, Australia are some of the most mineralogically diverse on Earth, especially so for secondary supergene minerals. Not only this, but they have produced some stunningly beautiful specimens and weird and wonderful crystallized forms of species. This fascinating small cabinet specimen of Pyromorphite has not only a superb form - like coral - but remarkable provenance, as from McCulloch`s Shaft at Broken Hill Proprietary mine. The reason for this excellent detail is that it comes from Milton Lavers' remarkable Broken Hill suite. The colour, a shade of cappuccino, is classic Broken Hill, but unusual on a world-scale. A wonderful Australian classic.
