What a dreamy Pyromorphite! I think if I was asked to describe what a perfect Les Farges mine specimen should look like, my description would be near to this. When people talk of classics they expect unique features that define a locality. Things that simply shout out the name of the locality with no uncertainty. This superb cabinet-sized display specimen says Les Farges mine instantly. This almost matrixless aggregate of very large Pyromorphite crystal presents a dense plate that sits well for display. I must confess that I find the density of coarsely crystallized Pyromorphite a mark of richness and quality. The Pyromorphite crystals reach 1.2 cm in length and display the absolute classic Les Farges mine form and colour - slightly curved, hexagonal prisms with slightly hoppered terminations where the crystals are composed of multiple parallel crystals. The colour, a dark mustard shade, with pronounced yellow tips is another massive giveaway to this mine. A perfect example of Pyromorphite from the premier French (and arguably European) occurrence. No obvious damage, just absolute class.
