It is easy to only associate type localities with the rarer minerals we know, readily forgetting that many of the more well-known had once to be discovered and described. Hence it is fascinating that this lovely specimen of rich rhubarb-green Pyromorphite is from its type locality at the historic locality close to Zschopau in Saxony, Germany. The richly coloured Pyromorphite ranges from squat prismatic thin crystals to longer, acicular-like prisms over 1 cm long and occasional thicker-set prismatic crystals with dark prism faces with a lighter, lime-green termination. A terrific Pyromorphite richly coating a granular milky-Quartz veinstone matrix.
