A great, eye-catching specimen of Calcite from the Zinc Corporation mine at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, punctuated with numerous 1 to 4 mm clusters of Pyrite micro-crystals. The Calcite is a clean milky-white with a sucrosic textured crystalline surface and forms a radiating hedgehog array of scalenohedral crystals emanating from an underlying core of mixed granular Galena and Sphalerite. The Pyrite tends to form spherical clusters of inter-meshed crystals that commonly occur on the tips of the lustrous Calcites. A most attractive specimen and a particularly good example from this world-class locality.
