This might be a miniature specimen, but the size of these Pyrargyrite crystals is seriously impressive - up to 1.8 cm across! What is more, this is from one of the all-time classic world silver sulphosalt occurrences - at Colquechaca (Aullagas) in Potosí Department, Bolivia. Although some of the mines in this district are still active it is generally accepted that the great crystallized Pyrargyrites came out during the period 1880s-1920s. This one is in exceptionally fine condition with, not only very large and well-formed crystals, but with virtually no damage. Futhermore, the whole specimen appears to be crystallized Pyrargyrite with a fine resinous sub-metallc lustre and deep purple-grey colour with flashes of red inclusions with strong lighting. A real rarity for the connoisseur of silver minerals, or South American minerals. Mounted on a small acryllic base for display and handling.
