Detailed information
This extremely classy and well-balanced miniature German Pyrargyrite is in stunning condition for its undoubted age. Historically known as one of the 'ruby silvers' the extremely glossy freestanding equant crystals of Pyrargyrite that sit up on top of the Galena matrix still possess a really rich deep purple-red colour with the smaller crystals presenting an even brighter red colour with intense lighting. These crystals, which individually reach 8 mm across, are in extremely good shape with just microscopic chipping and cluster as showy aggregates to 1.5 cm across with some small but classy white prisms of Calcite alongside. One fairly modern previous collector label records this sample as from "St. Andreasberg, Harz" which is supported by the shape and style of the small Calcite crystals and it is most likely from the famous Samson mine. A very choice old-time Pyrargyrite from this classic Europe locality.
